Christie Casciano [0:08 - 2:19]: Hi, kids. Hockey mom, Christie here. Glad you're along for the ride. Oh, are we talking about rides? Rides to the rink. And sometimes we take even longer rides to out of town tournaments. This is a great time for you to experience road trips. They are so much fun. And for my kids, there are some of the most memorable times on our hockey journey. First of all, make sure you have your homework done before you hit the road. Why do I say that? You're thinking, oh, I'll do it when we get back. Chances are you're going to be tired. Your mind is on everything that just happened. It's not on schoolwork. So do yourself a favor. Get all your schoolwork done before you hit the road. Check in with your teachers, too, and make sure that they know that the weekend's going to be really busy for you. Maybe they can give you your homework early on on that Friday before you leave so that you can start thinking about what kind of work you need to get done. Once you're on the road, make it fun. You don't have to be on your phone constantly. Take some time to do some fun games. My kids used to love to play I spy. We would say, okay, I spy, you know, a red car. And then they would try and find that red car and other kinds of word games, puzzles, share memories, share some of your favorite movies and talk about it. This is a great time to have great conversations in the car, too. And if you're with a bunch of friends, make sure that you have time to share each other's company. Learn more about each other. This is a great time for you guys to bond with your teammates. So do things that aren't going to be wearing tear on your parents nerves because the last thing your parents want to hear is the constant, are we there yet? Have fun, kids, and keep those road trips memorable.
