WEBVTT
00:00:08.112 --> 00:00:12.083
Hello hockey skaters and goalies around the world, and welcome to another edition of the ride to the rink.
00:00:12.083 --> 00:00:12.967
This is Lee Elias.
00:00:12.967 --> 00:00:19.628
We got a little holiday message for you, as we're getting this the Thursday before Christmas and the New Year's, and the message is pretty simple.
00:00:19.628 --> 00:00:31.708
It's a few things we've talked about so far this year, but we want you to take the time to reflect this week, not just on the things that you're grateful for and to give gratitude for those things, but we also want you to take the time for yourself.
00:00:31.708 --> 00:00:34.468
This is a time of year where a few things can happen.
00:00:34.468 --> 00:00:38.871
You can get very lazy and do absolutely nothing, or it can be insanely crazy.
00:00:38.871 --> 00:00:41.247
You can have tournaments and be playing every single day.
00:00:41.247 --> 00:00:51.481
That's why it's so important to find a balance between the holidays to make sure that you're still doing exactly what it is that you love, which is playing hockey, practicing hockey, doing hockey with friends.
00:00:51.481 --> 00:00:57.899
But it's also a time to be with the people that you love your parents, your grandparents, your aunts, your uncles, your cousins and everybody.
00:00:57.899 --> 00:01:06.611
That comes over to your house or the houses that you go to for the holidays and make sure to take a moment and enjoy that time with your family Goes without saying.
00:01:06.611 --> 00:01:11.070
You never know who's going to be here next year, next week, next month.
00:01:11.070 --> 00:01:29.350
It's a really important time of year to make sure that you give thanks for those people in your lives, that you thank the people in your lives to tell them thank you for allowing me to skate, to play, to do all the things that I get to do on the ice, off the ice, so forth and so on, and just to thank them for supporting you, probably most importantly, on the journey.
00:01:29.350 --> 00:01:32.128
You've heard that saying it takes a village to raise someone.
00:01:32.128 --> 00:01:34.007
It's absolutely true in hockey as well.
00:01:34.007 --> 00:01:37.430
It takes your coaches, it takes your family, it takes the support of a lot of people.
00:01:37.430 --> 00:01:54.152
So just remember to take a few minutes, a few moments this holiday season to A relax, to give yourself a break and to give thanks for those people in your life that help you accomplish the daily things you need to do to find that goal or that dream that you want to reach.
00:01:54.152 --> 00:02:13.045
No matter where you're at for the holiday season, take a moment with your family and just live in that peace Hopefully it's peace that you experience around your families this time of year and share some gratitude with them and yourself for allowing you to be part of the greatest sport that has ever existed.
00:02:13.045 --> 00:02:15.367
So, with that said, we're going to wish you a happy holiday.
00:02:15.367 --> 00:02:25.627
We're going to see you again before the new year to talk more ride to the rink action about how you can take these skills right on the ice with you or in the off ice scenarios with your coaches, with your teammates and everything.
00:02:25.627 --> 00:02:34.355
And above all, we want to thank you for listening to these episodes, especially if you're a young hockey player out there on that journey trying to find your way to the promised land.
00:02:34.355 --> 00:02:35.340
So I'm Leo Elias.
00:02:35.340 --> 00:02:37.829
Thanks for listening to this episode of the ride to the rink.
00:02:37.829 --> 00:02:42.128
We'll see you next week and all of next year here on the Our Kids Play Hockey Network.
00:02:42.128 --> 00:02:43.931
Have a great one, merry Christmas.
00:02:43.931 --> 00:02:46.786
That's Ed lamb.
00:02:46.786 --> 00:02:47.448
Haha, thanks for me.
00:02:47.448 --> 00:02:47.688
Thanks.
