The Ride To The Rink - Micro Moments Of Gratitude

In this special Thanksgiving edition of The Ride To The Rink, we explore a topic that transcends the holiday season: gratitude. As we celebrate the game we love, let's remember the countless moments that make hockey special, from that incredible assist to the crucial save.

Join us as we emphasize the power of recognizing and thanking our teammates, coaches, and everyone who contributes to our journey on and off the ice. Hockey is a team sport, and it's the little things that count.

So, as you head to the rink, take a moment to appreciate the micro moments that shape your experience. It's a lesson you can carry with you throughout your hockey career and beyond.

Thank you for being a part of our hockey community. Happy Thanksgiving, and here's to a fantastic season ahead!

00:00:08.253 --> 00:00:12.804
Hello hockey skaters and goalies around the world, and welcome to another edition of the ride to the rank.

00:00:12.804 --> 00:00:14.872
It's Thanksgiving time when we're recording this.

00:00:14.872 --> 00:00:21.423
This episode's actually debuting on a Thanksgiving, no matter when you're listening to it, but the subject matter is going to be good for a year round.

00:00:21.423 --> 00:00:33.313
We talked in an earlier episode about the importance of gratitude, the importance of going to bed each night being thankful for all of the great things in your life, so I wanted to take that a step further today for all of you.

00:00:33.313 --> 00:00:41.049
Last weekend I was watching a hockey game and I saw a young player score a goal and all of his teammates went over to high five of them and the player just kind of skated to center ice to celebrate.

00:00:41.049 --> 00:00:43.874
Now, I don't think that player meant anything bad by it.

00:00:43.874 --> 00:00:46.023
He did eventually go back to the bench and hug his teammates.

00:00:46.023 --> 00:00:50.161
He just got lost in the moment, but it brought up a good point that I want to bring to you.

00:00:50.161 --> 00:00:55.744
We got to find those little things in the game to be grateful for and to thank our teammates for.

00:00:55.744 --> 00:01:15.245
It can be anything from a player passing the puck to you, getting you that great assist, you scoring a goal off of a great assist, the goalie making a huge save in the middle of the game, a defenseman making a huge stop for the goalie in the middle of the game, a player on the bench who's encouraging you even though maybe they're not getting the best type of ice time they want in that game.

00:01:15.245 --> 00:01:31.548
No matter the situation, find those little micro moments in the game and make sure that you go out of your way to thank your teammate, to hug your teammate to, high, five your teammate and acknowledge that it's the team that makes all of the great stuff and hockey possible.

00:01:31.548 --> 00:01:50.167
This is something you can learn and do at a young age, and while I'm not telling you not to celebrate and be absolutely elated when you make a good play, just know that that play is a summation of lots of little things happening from every player on the ice, on the bench, at the practices, behind the scenes, at the video meetings.

00:01:50.167 --> 00:01:52.215
Whatever you do, it all comes together.

00:01:52.215 --> 00:01:54.584
Your coaching staff is another great one to thank.

00:01:54.584 --> 00:01:56.849
Sometimes coaches make great decisions on the bench.

00:01:56.849 --> 00:01:59.352
They put the right people out, they put the right plays on the ice.

00:01:59.352 --> 00:02:01.923
They rarely get the credit they deserve as well.

00:02:01.923 --> 00:02:05.731
So today's message is A be grateful for everything in your life.

00:02:05.731 --> 00:02:15.550
That is the theme of today, but also find those micro moments to be grateful for and make sure that you go out of your way to thank those people that are helping you succeed.

00:02:15.550 --> 00:02:18.466
That's it, a short episode today for the ride to the rink.

00:02:18.466 --> 00:02:25.183
I want to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful rest of the month and rest of the winter as we move forward into the season.

00:02:25.183 --> 00:02:28.680
We'll see you next week on another edition of the ride to the rink.
